Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt—Witness

Our Christian religion is the religion we believe to be true. Not just because we believe it, but because it is full of many a witness to Jesus, His teachings, His Life, Death and Resurrection. Time and witnesses proved the truth of the prophets as well.

It is resplendent with hundreds of eye witnesses. In fact, one would be hard pressed not to believe, from the value of the witnesses. Research for yourselves if you doubt. Seek and ye shall find. Glory.

John 1:6-8
There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

Five Minute Friday Prompt—Instant

The instant I learned of Kate Motaung’s Five Minute Writing Prompt, I was intrigued.

For five minutes we are to write our free-style thoughts on a one word topic she gives every week via email. Set the timer five minutes, write, done.

Once attached to her link, we can share our musings with other Five Minute Friday writers. I have ‘met’ many folk through her platform. It has been interesting and fun.

So I would like to take this instant to Thank You, Kate for hosting this platform for us. See you next year.

Merry Christmas to you, Kate, and every FMF writer!

Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt—Like

While I am always looking for ‘likes’ on social media, the real hard question for me is: Does Jesus like me?

Am I living like He instructed me? That is, “to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age?” Titus 2:12 Am I? Or how about this: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another…Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Col 3:12-13 Or perhaps this one: “Do not complain, brethren against one another.” James 5:9 Maybe this last one: “…I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think.” Romans 12:3

Oh Lord, have mercy and help me be more like You so that in the end I may receive a like and “Thumbs Up!” from You. Glory!

Five Minute Writing Prompt—Extreme

I am visiting my twinster and her family. They live in Colorado, near Woodland Park. They have been here in Colorado for thirty years.

Extreme is a good word for my description of their place. I am always amazed at the size of the mountains, the thin air, and the land itself. It is all so different and in many ways extreme to me. I marvel at the huge differences and perspectives visiting here gives me.

They have given tremendous experiences to me and my family over the years. So extremely different it is from our rolling green hills of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. A grand wonder with every visit. Glory!

Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt—While

While, such an interesting word, is a noun that means a period of time.

It has been a word for myself for many years i.e.:

What can be done while I am waiting for this appointment?

What can I do while the children are napping?

How can I occupy myself on this long trip while being a traveling passenger?

Is there something that could be done while I wait fifteen minutes before needing to leave for work?

Time has always been important to me. It passes quickly with moments never to be had again. So, I hope this has been a thoughtful post for you while you spent these five minutes with me.

Good day!

Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt—Represent

We all represent something. Whether we are aware of it or not is immaterial. It is visible to others. Ask them what they see in you that show what you represent.

So the question is, what do you represent? What does our daily life tell others about whom or what we represent?

I am a Jesus follower, aka a Christian. Disciples were first called Christians in Antioch, as recorded in the book of Acts 11:26. It is a daily prayer and hope when people see me they recognize the One I strive to represent.

This photograph I recently took encapsulates the image of my goal in life—i.e. to love others as Christ loves me.

FMF Writing Prompt—Chance

It is County Fair time here in Virginia!

Always an enjoyable time of year for us. We look forward to both Frederick and Clarke County Fairs.

Competing in events is terrific fun. I will be entering several photographs for a chance of winning a ribbon.

Seeing which photo wins is an interesting surprise. What wins at one fair does not necessarily win at the other. The photos I think may have a chance to win at times does not. Beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder. It is a learning experience to study the winners. Some are obvious, others are not.

See you at the fair!

Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt—Danger

“Oh, Lord, please deliver me from the danger of myself!” is my oft made prayer before The Lord.

It seems too often I am that ‘Pharisee’ Jesus said to be aware of. You know those that are clean on the outside, but are full of greed and self-indulgence on the inside? It appears the harder I try the worse I become.

How grateful I am for God’s long suffering grace towards me. Sometimes I need to extend Gods grace to myself, for I too am only a puny human.

I feel much like Ruth Graham who adopted this saying for herself after seeing it on the road:

FMF Writing Prompt—Important

Important. A fine word for the start of a New Year.

Great for reflection and looking ahead. The questions I ask myself are: Did I accomplish those things I thought were of value and importance to me over this past year? What specifically is important to me in this coming New Year? How am I going to achieve those things I deem important?

One specific goal is to ‘be still and know that I am God’. To set aside quiet time to spend with God and reflect upon my daily life. Reflection is important. I plan on putting this photograph of our grandson astride our miniature horse, Snowbell, where it is easily seen as a reminder to be still a moment of a normal, busy day and think on God. A feeling of refreshment and hopefully a quiet assurance that God is here with me will fill my heart.
