Thursday Thoughts #180

I am of an age now where ‘new’ things are the ‘old’ things I used to do when I was young.
Macramé is one of those ‘new’ things. I wanted to hang my orchids outside under our tree for summer. I thought I would macramé my own like I did so many years ago. But…
Having them already made to use quickly changed my mind. At the check-out I asked the clerk (who was about my age) if she ever did macramé. She said yes, she had. She made a plant hanger for her mother that she kept until she died. Isn’t that too sweet?

You know what? Think I’ll go get some materials so my grandkids and I can make a macramé pot hanger together for their mommas!

Life on the farm is unique. What compares? Share your thoughts. We grow our own food, raise a bunch of critters, have a bunch of fun, love the land. Outdoors is best. I’m bias? Yes, I am… May I ask you this—Do you love the land?
How about you? What’s your ‘jam’? Tell us, please! As my mother used to say, “It takes all kinds to make this world, Midy”.
She was right.

We all have more than one name. Think about it. How many names do you have? Mom, Honey, Babe, Aunt, Granny, Mrs., and sometimes, “Hey, you!”
I have another name too. All the animals know it well. Know what it is?
FOOD!
Oh, it is sweet to think when our animals look at me, whinny, moo or follow me it is because they love me so. But it is not. Truth is, they are
HUNGRY!
Yes, in their world, my name is Food.
My husband says I am not happy unless I am feeding something. Guess he is right.
They also have the mistaken notion that every time I come around them I owe them a treat. I do admit these animals are a bit spoiled. Most especially our horses. They are all seniors. In my mind they have earned their semi-retirement. Their treats are their ‘retirement pay.’
But, good grief, must they stare at me with such begging faces? Tell me, could you tell these faces no to an iddy-biddy treat?

Tell me, how can these faces be turned down for treats?

Oops! I forgot…Make it a great weekend, gentle reader.
This is a quick post of photographs. After several grey, wet days, this beautiful, sunny day beckoned us out-of-doors to play catch.
HoneyPie is one great outfielder. I happened to have my phone during our play time and caught photos of her in action.
Her herding instincts are easy to see. I know very little about training herding dogs, though I have taught her ‘direction’. She will herd the chickens in at night.
I enjoy watching her play frisbee. She is adroit and remarkably fast for legs that are only 4″ long!

Well, time to head back outside…
For fun.
