“At least one year is what I commit to.”
Was the answer to my older sisters question about training the adorable new puppy she had purchased. Plan to commit one year for your pup to be attached to your hip if your goal is to have a good, smart dog that folks like to be around. Not a sweet, dumb dog that knows little to nothing of how to live happily with we humans.
One year of good deliberate work with a puppy will bring years of joy. I say one year because we have ‘life’ to work around as well. Little by little is the plan.
HoneyPie, our 10 month old Corgi, is coming along very well. There are things she and I still need to learn and sharpen. It is a fun, fascinating journey.
The rewards of being committed to this goal are outstanding. May I introduce HoneyPie to you?

She’s a beauty!
Thank you kindly, Ruth.

Hello Honey Pie! What a beautiful dog! My daughter and her husband want to get a corgi puppy. They are willing to train – have no children yet. I’m sure it will be a full-time year of training, lol! Hope you are doing well! Blessings to you Mitzy π
Oh, thank you. How fun, Marylin for your daughter and SIL! They are happy, active dogs. My one word description of HoneyPie is CONFIDENT. π She does keep me busy. She is watching the horses in first photo. In second we are at our city park training—so many smells to smell! You can see there are no people—too chilly I suppose. That’s ok, one step at a time!

She is so beautiful Mitzy! Is she a hunting dog or will she take a part in the farm animals?
Why thank you, Diane. She is a Pembroke Corgi. The smallest of the herding dog breeds. She and I are working on her to bring in the Horses and chickens. We are just starting, and are waiting to hear back from a lady that trains herding dogs. It’s all for fun and give her a job. π
