An Urgent Prayer Request

I am writing a fast post to make a prayer request of you. We are in a severe drought, far below normal water levels. Rainfall has been one-quarter of what it should be for the month of October.

There are now fires burning in our parks in the mountains. The largest one is the Matts Creek Fire. Located five miles southeast of Glasgow, VA. It is on National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway in Rockbridge and Bedford counties. Over 5,000 acres have been burned. It is not yet contained.

Smoke is thicker than it looks.

The Quaker Run fire in Shenandoah National Park and Madison County, looking on the inciweb.nwcg.gov says is 100% contained. Glory.

My clothes smelled like smoke when I came in from outside.

My prayer request is urgent nonetheless. Our county is under water restrictions again. This is the second time in recent months because of declining groundwater levels.

We are in desperate need of rain. I ask for your prayers for rain and the wind to abate so fires get under control.

The wind is making it harder. This is a huge flag!

Thank you very much for your prayers.

True…so true.

  1. Praying for your area Mitzy, I understand only too well the fears of a drought, and fire. We suffer from that in late summer here almost every year. I pray that the Lord sends abundance of rain for your area!

    • Thank you kindly, Marilyn.  We did receive 3″ last week!  Glory! 👏   We really need snow too (none last year ☹️).
